June 8th–My Birthday

Sunday, May 27th, 2012
My mother spent her last years on a small ranch near Jamestown, Ca. It was on a mountain side of almost solid granite. To celebrate my birthday she felt I should honor her with planting a rose. June 8th is usually hot so in 110 degree weather I would be trying to dig a hole in that granite. Needless to say, I did not look forward to my birthday! I miss mom but I sure don’t miss that rose planting.–olRoff

memories

It was on a lonely stretch of highway 4 out of Stockton. I stopped a weaving car, A huge man got out in a rage. With clemched fists
he started for me. Grabbing my nightstick I started for him. I spoke the words that I was going to kill him. The man stopped fast, opened his hand, and held his arms extended. Sometimes words are magical. (memories of an old investigator of when he was a young CHP Officer)—olRoff

Howard Rains

Friday, May 11th, 2012

When I decided to add Howard Rains to our gallery I had not the slightest idea who I was adding. I just loved his paintings. I knew he loved playing the fiddle and also painting. Tonight I spent a long time researching the web for Howard. After 10 full pages of entries, I just figure they will go on and on. Folks, Howard is not only a great artist but is also a very well known fiddler.

Hatred

Saturday, May 5th, 2012
I abhor political or racial emails–emails that attack my personal belief or anyone’s personal beliefs. Actually I blocked a friend from childhood’s emails for her continual bashing of Muslims. We have enough hatred in the world! When I read those emails or facebook entries I get an upset feeing. I prefer not.–olRoff

When I was a young man I knew I could never be a CHP Officer but I decided to take the test anyway. OMG, in a years time I was a CHP Officer being assigned to the East los Angeles Area, Young people, you cannot win the race if you don’t run! –olRoff
