My pictures are all jumbled. This was taken at Folk Fest in the late 1990s when I represented Reverend Rice. This put me on the Folk Art World map. Rev. Rice had never been represented before. We had a strong friendship and love between up. He and several family members showed up. It was quite a show. TV Cameras rolled and newspapers wrote about it. I believe the FOLK ART Messanger even did a story about it. Here we are that year at Folk Fest.---------------- I will never forget Steve Slolin told me that Reverend Rice and his family would be no fee guests at the show. When they started arriveng (I had NO idea his family was so huge. I gulped thinking if Steve would let all of them in--and being a man of his word, he did. I will neder forget that day. his signs flew off the wall. i don't think I went home with even one
This great sign was given to me by Rev R.C. Rice. Due to my illness I cannot tell you when or how it was sold or to whom it was sold. It is a great example of Reverend Rice's signs.
I found this old truck door (circa 1930s) in an antique shop in Linden, Ca. It instantly brought back memories of my dear friends Rev W. C. Rice and his wonderful wife Marzel. I painted it, remembering them each second of the way!---by ol'Roff
This REPENT sign was given to me many years ago by Rev. Rice. It was inside the gallery until Dec 31, 2012. It is now hanging on my studio wall in Stockton, Ca.
This wooden cross was given to me by Rev Rice in the late 1990s. I placed the cross on the outside wall of the gallery in Lodi, Ca.Time took its toll. I became ill with a Pituitary Tumor and the operation was not successful. I was left with a portion deep within my brain. I closed the gallery in 2012--auctioned the contents June 2013. I was granted permission in July of 2015 to remove the cross. This month, October 2015 I painted the cross in his remembrance. Spring 2016 I will be placing it in my environment that I am creating.
Here is a picture of the front door of my gallery in the 1990s and up to 2013. please note the writing about Rev. Rice. The other pictures were taken at the Miracle Cross Gardens in Prattville, Alabama around the year 2000. I have hundreds of photos but due to my illness I will have to settle for these at the present time.
